I’m Paul Allen, the photographer behind BIG+FUN Photography.
Photography is where everything I love comes together: creativity, storytelling, beautiful light — and, most of all, people. I love creating images that make someone stop and see themselves differently, capturing the moments they’ll want to remember, and making people feel comfortable, confident and completely themselves in front of my camera. Whether I’m photographing a wedding, a portrait, a performer or a brand, I want the experience to feel as good as the photographs look!

Before BIG+FUN Photography, I built a career as a creative director in advertising, directing hundreds of campaigns for major brands, including a Super Bowl commercial. I've directed all kinds of people, from those who had never stepped in front of a professional camera, to supermodels and celebrities. That experience taught me how to tell a story, how to bring out the best in the person in front of the camera, and how to create imagery with intention. Today, I bring all of that experience to photography — along with an editorial eye, a cinematic sensibility, and a genuine love for what I do!

My Approach
Polished doesn’t have to mean predictable.
I love beautiful light, strong composition, rich color and images with a sense of place. Sometimes that means meticulously constructing a photograph; sometimes it means recognizing the perfect unscripted moment and getting out of its way.
Great photographs come from collaboration, trust, and the freedom to create something unexpected. I bring ideas and direction to every shoot, but never a rigid formula. I’ll guide you when you need it, obsess over the details so you don’t have to, and make sure you feel comfortable and completely yourself in front of the camera.
We’ll make the photographs we planned — and leave enough room to make the ones neither of us could have imagined, and that's when the magic happens!
